Our Team
At Anacréon, wine is more than what’s in the glass. It’s the hands, hearts, and minds behind it.
Our team is full of passionate people who share one common thread: creating experiences that feel deeply personal, rooted in care, and unforgettable long after the last sip.
Andrew Finver
Andrew has developed a passion for wine, food and hospitality since his first restaurant job in 1985. From a career on Wall Street, to opening a Michelin-starred restaurant in Manhattan, to launching a wine program in Bangkok, Andrew has a varied set of experiences, interests and skills. Prior to joining Anacreon, he opened and managed the tasting room for Tendril Wine Cellars in Carlton OR, alongside acclaimed winemaker Tony Rynders. As a “recovering New Yorker”, he fell in love with the charming, unpretentious nature of Willamette Valley on his first visit in 2000. Andrew lives in Portland and is a fierce defender of the city’s reputation as (one of) the most exciting food scenes in the country. And yes, he’s more than happy to share his dining tips.
Avery Javier
Avery entered the Willamette Valley wine scene in 2021, bringing with him a background in viticulture and enology, along with winemaking experience in New York’s Finger Lakes AVA, and Australia. Drawn by Oregon’s remarkable ability to consistently produce world-class vintages of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and sparkling wines, he was equally captivated by the state’s stunningly diverse landscapes. What truly made Oregon home was the welcoming, collaborative community of peers who embraced his passion. Avery finds joy in sharing memorable experiences through wine, food, and meaningful conversation. He looks forward to being part of your visit to Anacréon Winery!
Winemaker Anna Matzinger
Anna Matzinger is an esteemed Oregon winemaker, who brings a unique point of view along with a depth of experience to Anacréon. Anna’s pursuit to understand the intricacies of wine as a reflection of place and what it means to craft intentioned and expressive wines began in California in the mid-1990s. Her journey led to wineries and vineyards in New Zealand and Australia and ultimately to Oregon’s Willamette Valley where she has been mastering her craft for over two decades. Notably, much of that time was spent as winemaker and general manager for Archery Summit whose wines during Anna’s tenure garnered numerous accolades and helped to elevate our region’s recognition for producing distinctive, world class wines.
In addition to collaborating with Danell and Kipp on the Anacreon wines, Anna crafts wines under her own label Matzinger Davies together with her winemaker husband Michael Davies.
Matt Perry
Matt started his wine journey after taking a wine appreciation course while attaining his B.S. in Chemistry from The University of Minnesota. He added an extra year to minor in Horticulture working in the experimental grape breeding program at the Horticulture Research Center.
After spending years working harvests in Napa Valley and Australia, he planted his roots in McMinnville, Oregon with his wife and two children. In 2024 he started a new winemaking venture with his Burgundian friend Simon Colin. The pair bonded over their love of Chardonnay and now produce Chardonnay focusing on Organic and Biodynamic vineyards. Matt is an integral part of our winemaking team here at Anacréon Winery and we’re excited to have him on board.
